CS2 Free Cheat Dangers: RAT, Miner and Malware Analysis

Free Cheat = Not Really Free
Search "CS2 free cheat" online and hundreds of results come up. The vast majority of them (80%+) contain malware. Building cheat software takes serious technical skill and constant updates — if someone offers that for free, they're making money some other way. RAT (Remote Access Trojan)
The most common danger is a RAT. A backdoor embedded in the cheat file gives an attacker full remote access to your computer. They can view your screen, read your files, turn on your webcam, log your keystrokes and install more malware. Popular RATs include AsyncRAT, QuasarRAT and NjRAT. They are open-source and free — which is exactly why every script kiddie can use them.
Cryptominer
The second most common danger is a hidden cryptominer. While the cheat runs, it uses your GPU and CPU power in the background to mine Monero or similar cryptocurrency. Signs include unusually high GPU/CPU usage, louder fans, a slower computer and a higher electricity bill. Some miners are smart — they only run while your computer is idle.
Info Stealer
Steals passwords, cookies, credit card details and autofill data saved in your browser. Your Steam account, your session cookies, your crypto wallet — all at risk. RedLine Stealer and Vidar are especially common in CS2 cheat forums.
Real-World Examples
When a so-called free cheat named "CS2 STARTER" was analyzed in 2025, it was found to contain an XMRig miner plus a RedLine stealer. It had racked up over 50,000 downloads. Another example: a link in a YouTube video titled "CS2 free ESP undetected 2026" pointed to a .exe hosting AsyncRAT. It was flagged by only 4 out of 72 antivirus engines on VirusTotal because it used a crypter.
How Do You Protect Yourself?
