Why Is Color Contrast So Important?
The human eye processes color before shape; This difference is vital in CS2 when you need to spot an enemy in 0.3 seconds. Mirage's sand tones, Inferno's brick texture, or Dust2's dust color easily swallow the default ESP lines. CSCodep's color engine allows you to define individual RGB values for each team, each bone group, and even weapon type. The goal is for your brain to distinguish the color as "enemy" or "teammate" at a reflex level, without conscious thought. That is why it is recommended that the selected colors be at least 40-50 tones away from the general palette of the map; for example, neon green or purple in the brown-dominated Nuke, and electric orange in the gray-toned Vertigo are the fastest-read combinations.
Palette Selection for Teammate - Enemy Discrimination
While the default blue-red distinction is sufficient for most gamers, users with red-green color blindness have difficulty distinguishing between the two. In the CSCodep menu, setting the teammate color to cool tones (cyan, light blue) and the enemy color to a warm but different shade of red (orange, yellow) works for both classic and colorblind users. The hot-cold contrast provides a much more reliable distinction than the red-green contrast because it is also based on the difference in brightness. Also, keeping the enemy color a shade brighter on night maps (like the dark parts of Overpass) ensures that the ESP line doesn't disappear even in low light.
Dynamic Color Transition According to Health Status
Using a health-based gradient instead of a static color gives additional information at a glance. In CSCodep, a gradient can be defined that shifts green between 100-70 percent of enemy health, yellow between 70-30 percent, and red below 30 percent; This way, you'll notice which enemy will fall with a single bullet before the color resolves. The transition is not linear but threshold-based adjustable; For example, if you are using an AWP, you can mark one-shot targets earlier by lowering the 30 percent threshold to 50 percent. This setting is especially useful in economic rounds to quickly distinguish and prioritize low health enemies.
Glow Radius and Outline Thickness
While a thick outline is more visible from a distance, at close range it can cover the screen and hide the target point. In CSCodep, outline thickness can be adjusted between 1-4 pixels; While 1-2 pixels is sufficient for sniper maps (Vertigo, Overpass), 3 pixels is recommended for maps with intense close combat such as Mirage. The glow effect is a less aggressive option than outline for enemies behind walls because it creates a soft glow instead of a sharp line and does not distract when peeking.
Colorblind Friendly Readymade Schemes
The CSCodep menu includes two ready-made schemes optimized for deuteranopia and protanopia (red-green blindness); In these schemes, the blue-orange contrast is used instead of the red-green binary. The purple-green combination is recommended for players experiencing tritanopia (blue-yellow blindness). Once you've selected the ready-made scheme, you're also allowed to manually fine-tune individual colors, ensuring a combination of personal preference and accessibility. The color scheme change is applied instantly and can be shared with friends via config export; This ensures rapid dissemination of the most readable schemas within the community.
