CS2 Ban Types: VAC, Overwatch, Game Ban Differences

How to Issue a VAC Ban?
The VAC (Valve Anti-Cheat) ban is the result of an automated detection process where Valve's signature-based scanning system works together with VACNet's behavioral analysis. VAC bans are usually applied with a delay; In other words, an account using cheating is banned not immediately after it is detected, but after a period of time determined by Valve. This delay is to make it harder for cheat developers to figure out which detection method has been triggered and update immediately. VAC ban is permanent, has no appeal process, and only affects that account; however, competitive mode access is completely disabled in all VAC-protected games associated with the account.
Overwatch System and Review Process
Overwatch is a community control system that works by having demo recordings of a player exhibiting suspicious behavior be watched by other players with sufficient rank and trust to vote guilty or innocent. Unlike VAC, human evaluation is in effect here, not an automatic system; That's why Overwatch bans often pick up on more subtle patterns of behavior. The account that collects enough delinquent votes will usually receive a temporary Overwatch ban; This period can be measured in days for a first violation, weeks for repeat violations, and the account will continue to be included in future investigations.
Difference Between Game Ban and VAC Ban
Game ban is a type of ban imposed by Valve or the game publisher for reasons other than VAC (non-cheat account sharing, fraud, payment dispute, use of third-party software). While VAC bans are solely based on technical cheating detection, game bans cover a much broader range of behavior and can sometimes be manually applied by Valve support. Both types of bans appear separately on the Steam profile and affect the overall reputation score in a similar way, although the duration of the game ban may be limited in some cases, unlike the VAC ban.
HWID Ban: When the Hardware, Not the Account, is Banned
For some serious or repeated violations, Valve may flag not only the account but also the physical hardware that account is playing on. In this case, even if you log in with a new Steam account, access to CS2 competitive mode from the same computer may be blocked.
